A city in new light
Brightspots was envisioned as a way to present everyday places of the city St.Pölten in a new light. The city is filled with historically relevant buildings, monuments and artworks. The beauty of these places is often not truly recognized by the inhabitants of the city as they are there at every moment. Walking past them on their daily commute most people never really stopped and looked at them thoroughly, so they fade into the background and get part of the monotony of life.
Live Projection Walking Tour
The goal of the art project was to revive these special places and breathe new life into them. We created a small projection mapping show for each place, focusing on its history or artistic significance. The project was happening over the course of a few weeks. At the end of this timeframe we held a special event. We invited the inhabitants of the city to join us on a walk through the city, visiting different places and experiencing them together in a new way like we are seeing them for the first time.
To make this walk a reality and get over the technical hurdles of making such a project a reality a mobile projection cart was build. It featured a huge portable battery and electrical inverter so we could power the projectors and computer. The walking tour was supported by a local guide that explained the location to the onlookers.
